Just because the weather has grown colder doesn't mean there aren't plenty of fun things going on in Sonoma County this weekend. Here are our picks:
- Enjoy a Cool Blast of Art. This Saturday evening Santa Rosa's art district will come alive with open galleries and studios plus local food vendors, live music, street performers, and more. It's the 8th annual Winterblast Festival — one part art exhibition and one part street party — so come take an art walk down South A Street and enjoy all this thriving district has to offer. Culminates in a "description defying" parade. Saturday, November 17th. 5:00 to 8:00pm.
- Sit by the Fire. To warm up after Winterblast, head to Fabiani Ristorante in Santa Rosa (formerly called Franco's) — a wonderfully toasty spot for classic Italian cuisine with wood beam ceilings, two fireplaces, and much-praised gnocchi and thin crust pizza. Fabiani also has a fabulous panna cotta — a silky pillow of cooked cream, topped with delicate flecks of vanilla and two sauces. Fabiani Ristorante, 505 Mendocino Avenue @7th Street, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.
- Taste Grandly. Whether you attend the grand tasting in the afternoon or the harvest dinner at night, you'll need all five senses to appreciate the 4th Annual Artisano Celebration at the Vintners Inn Events Center on Saturday, November 17th — featuring locally-sourced delicacies from the best restaurants, ultra-premium wines, and fine art. Saturday, November 17th. 12:00 to 4:00pm (Grand Tasting) and 5pm for Harvest Dinner.
- Enjoy Some Delicious Sparkling and Varietal Wine. Speaking of ultra-premium wines, while you're in Sonoma County, you shouldn't miss a chance to drop by the J Visitor Center — just south of charming downtown Healdsburg — to sip award-winning Russian River Valley sparkling wine, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir in our elegant tasting room. Seated tastings available for a slightly higher fee. More information here. Tasting Room Hours: 11am to 5pm, 11447 Old Redwood Highway, Healdsburg, CA.
