J VINEYARDS & WINERY CERTIFIED AS A “GREEN WINERY” BY THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA GREEN BUSINESS PROGRAM

WINERY ALSO ACHIEVES CARBON NEUTRALITY IN ENERGY USE

HEALDSBURG, CALIFORNIA — (February 15, 2010) — J Vineyards & Winery, the privately-owned and independently-operated Sonoma County sparkling and varietal wine producer, has been certified as a “Green Winery” by the San Francisco Bay Area Green Business Program.

The winery was awarded its certification and applauded for its environmental efforts at an official ceremony with the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on February 2. Last month PG&E certified that the winery made its energy use “carbon neutral.”

Founded in 1986 by Judy Jordan, J Vineyards & Winery has been producing widely-acclaimed sparkling wines from its estates and growers in the Russian River Valley. The winery recently expanded its terroir-driven estate varietal wine program to include Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

“We implemented these environmental practices in a continued effort to be better stewards of the land and to respond to our consumers’ demands for environmental responsibility,” said Founder and President Judy Jordan. “Reducing, reusing and recycling is not just a slogan to make us feel better, these efforts are the keys to a more sustainable future.”

The San Francisco Bay Area Green Business Program is a partnership of government agencies and utilities created to help local businesses meet higher environmental standards and comply with environmental regulations. This process encourages businesses to conserve resources, prevent pollution, minimize waste, and reduce their carbon footprint. For more information, go to www.greenbiz.ca.gov.
